KUB Façade Project
Anne Marie Jehle
Opening on December 12, 2019
Kunsthaus Bregenz, in collaboration with the Anne Marie Jehle Foundation, Vaduz, is presenting a façade project by the Vorarlberg artist Anne Marie Jehle.
She made “art that rocks conventional concepts of art,” wrote Anne Marie Jehle in the 1970s about her work and impact as an artist in Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein. In collaboration with the Anne Marie Jehle Foundation, an enlarged version of a work by the artist, who died in 2000, is being presented on the lakeside façade of Kunsthaus Bregenz. It is a self-portrait from the 1970s, transformed into a collage, titled with the slogan KUNSTHAUS.
“Anne Marie Jehle is an exceptional artist. I am pleased that we have succeeded in producing an almost facade-sized reproduction of one of her works for Kunsthaus Bregenz. The source of the image, a photograph made in a photo booth, shows her own body as a vessel, screen, and work of art. Jehle confronts the male gaze, but also pictorial genres concerning sexual desire, advertising, as well as police booking and investigation shots,” explains KUB Director Thomas D. Trummer.
The KUB Façade Project Anne Marie Jehle is being presented on the lakeside façade of Kunsthaus Bregenz as of December 9. A further selection of work is being exhibited in the basement space at KUB.
