Oliver Laric’s Standbild is a modified version of a statue of King Theoderich. The original from 1513, a bronze cast by Peter Vischer the Elder based on a prototype by Albrecht Dürer, is one of 28 figures standing guard at the tomb of Emperor Maximilian I in the Hofkirche in Innsbruck. Laric had the larger-than-life statue scanned in 3D, removing such elements as shield, axe, sword, and mustache. The print data from the scan is freely available online for download and can be utilized by users worldwide as the basis for new work. The sculpture will be exhibited for the first time at Johanniterkirche Feldkirch.
