Talks on Music and the Arts
At Talks on Music and the Arts, a series of public talks and performances, the KUB will host four international artists. In conversation with
KUB Director Thomas D. Trummer, they will discuss the meaning of music, sound, and silence as well as the significance of the media in their own works and in contemporary art.
August 9, 7 pm
PERFORMANCE! The series will begin with the sound artist Samson Young, who turns our habits of hearing upside down in an unusual way. For Bregenz he is planning an specially designed Performance.
August 10, 7 pm
PARADE! By contrast, large-scale art spectacles are the focus of the Italian artist Marinella Senatore, who will be featured at the KUB the following day. In her work she combines theater, dance, and protest into major performances in public spaces.
September 7, 6 pm
MUSIC! Those who attended the KUB anniversary in 2017 will remember the spectacular performance by Tarek Atoui. In September, the Lebanese sound artist will return to Bregenz with electronic sounds accompanied by a performance in which he uses his entire body.

In November, the Jordanian artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan, who calls himself a “sound investigator,” will round out the Talks on Music and the Arts series. The event will take place in cooperation with the Jewish Museum Hohenems, where works by Lawrence Abu Hamdan will be on view as part of the exhibition Sag Schibbolet! Von sichtbaren und unsichtbaren Grenzen until February 2019.
